Hello and Happy Halloween! If you've hopped over from the fabulous Ronnie Allen http://ronnieallennovel.com/
Today we are all sharing a spooky story that is either true, or one we made up. I'll let you be the judge as to which category my story falls into. Be warned, and here we go.
------------------------------------------------
I had been given a Ouija board for Christmas when I was twelve years old. As all 'tweens', my friends and I spent a lot of time asking the Ouija board all important yes or no life questions so important to twelve year old girls. Some of our favorite questions were to ask the Ouija board for the names of our next boyfriend, or more importantly, the names of who we were going to marry. Fun stuff, but hardly scary, right?
Well, one afternoon, two of my girlfriends and I were asking serious questions of the Ouija board. One thing led to another and we started to feel a little creepy about the answers the Ouija board was providing to us.
I decided to ask a very important question. The three of us put our fingers on the three legged planchette and when we were ready, I asked in a serious tone, "Who runs this board?"
The planchette started to move after a moment and it slid across the board, resting on five letters in the following order.
D - E - V - I - L
We freaked out and screamed! My friends almost ran from the room. I picked up the board and the planchette, stuffed it back into the box and threw the whole damn thing into the furthest recesses of my closet. I never touched the Ouija board again - it terrified me. I was even too scared to take it out of the closet to put into the trash, and I think my mother got rid of it during one of her cleaning frenzies.
I was reminded of this entire incident when I saw the preview for the upcoming movie, titled "Ouija". No way am I going to see that movie. It gives me the creeps telling you this story, let alone seeing an entire movie that has a similar theme.

So, what do you think? True or false? I'll let you be the judge.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you next time!
Warmly,

Wow Mikki! Great blog. I loved my board but some visitors to my ritual room didn't like it so I discarded it.
ReplyDeleteYes after that, the darn things scare me and I won't go near one again. I'm probably over-reacting, but there you go. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI am guessing you made that one up, or at least I hope you did
ReplyDeleteSorry - my story is true. But I can't guarantee that the planchette wasn't assisted by one of my friends. They said no, but... who knows for sure. Thanks for the comment!
DeleteI remember times like that with the Ouija board when I was young. Could never tell if it was one of the other people pushing it around or really some energy thing. Makes me want to try it now!
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm not really sure one of my friends didn't 'help' by pushing, but to spell that particular word? Creepy!
DeleteI say true, only because I hate Ouija boards for that very reason. Of all the stories I've read in the hop so far, this is the first to give me genuine shivers and unease. Like Kim said, you never know if someone else was doing it, but the mind and memories are a powerful force when you're a tween in a darkened room trying to talk to the dead.
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time writing this blog, because even reliving this memory and putting it in print makes me feel uncomfortale. But, I thought it was an appropriate Halloween spooky tale.
DeleteI almost didn't read past "oujia board." Those things creep me out. Great story, though! And no, I won't be seeing the film either.
ReplyDeleteXio - thanks for the comment. I always thought Ouija boards were just for fun, until that day - I'll never touch one again.
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I did the Ouija board thing when we were kids, but never got anything quite that creepy. Yeah, I'd bury that thing. Nice retelling.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Ouija boards were so popular for awhile, weren't they? Everyone had one at the time. I never bought one for my kids though.
ReplyDeleteOh, Mikki - I got chills. I've never played with a Ouija board. But I've seen the advert for that movie and will admit to being intrigues. I love scary movies. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gemma. If you happen to see that new movie, Ouija, let us know.
DeleteI've never done a ouija board specifically 'cause I freak out way to easy and something would be bound to happen! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat story!
Thanks for your comments, Mishka. It freaked me out as well!
DeleteEW! Mikki I had a bad ouija experience too once and will not go anywhere near them now - and I will not be seeing that movie either. No way, can't pay me enough - and you gave me the shakes with this one!
ReplyDeleteI know, right? I will never go near one again. Way too creepy. Thanks for your comments!
DeleteI'll be the odd man out here, I love Spirit boards :) Great blog and I'm positive its true :) If not you did a great job telling the story :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for that J.J., and yes it is true.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm just now getting to this, Mikki! I would say it's true. My sister and I had a similar experience where it told us it lived on the moon. Great post!
