Hello! I hope that you had a great visit with Raine Balkera at her website http://rainswritingrealm.wordpress.com/

I welcome you to my web chat! In today’s chat we are all sharing our own 15-minute recipes. We all know how hard it is to find time to cook a good meal after a busy day of writing. Let’s face it, cold sandwiches and a can of soup can become very tiring.

I’d like to share a family recipe, passed down from my mother, that we make at our home when we want a quick meal. It takes a bit more than 15 minutes, but it’s easy and tastes great.

The Rada Family Recipe for Hamburgers in Mushroom Soup

Ingredients:
·       1 lb of hamburger (ground round is best to avoid a lot of grease and over shrinkage of the meat)
·       ½ cup of sliced onions
·       1 – 2 teaspoons Olive oil
·       1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
·       1/2 cup water
·       Salt, pepper
·       Optional – Adobo (I love this product, it has a mix of wonderful spices in the jar)

Directions:
1.       Create 4 hamburger patties from meat, to create ¼ lb burgers. If you desire, you can make smaller burgers if you are using good quality meat, otherwise the burgers will shrink up.
2.       Sprinkle both sides with salt, pepper and Adobo if used.
3.       Set aside.
4.       Heat the olive oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium high heat and sautĂ© the sliced onions until soft but not burned
5.       Add the hamburgers and brown on both sides
6.       Empty the can of Cream of Mushroom Soup and stir, until the soup starts to heat, but not boil
7.       Lower the heat to medium low
8.       Add ½ cup water – (can use more if this seems to thick)
9.       Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the hamburgers are cooked through.

We like to serve this with mashed potatoes because we love the sauce poured over the potatoes, but to save time, microwave 4 baking potatoes and you can pour the sauce over the sliced baked potatoes.
Add a green salad or a vegetable and you have a complete meal.

I hope that you enjoy! I know that we always have, and we are glad to share.

Before you leave, feel free to comment on anything you’ve read here – I look forward to hearing from you.

  3. I wonder how this would taste with turkey burgers. I love a good burger, but hate the smell of hamburger cooking. I think it will be worth a try thought. Thanks for sharing.
